Profile:

Nest Architects is an architectural design practice based in Melbourne, Australia. Beginning in 2004, the practise was fully realised when Emilio Fuscaldo become registered with the Architects Registration Board of Victoria in November 2006.

The studio is committed to creating art and architecture that stems from first principles and ends at a place both the client and architect can be proud. Nest Architects does not have a discernible style. Instead it treats every project as a new exercise in finding the right balance between the opportunities of the site and the client’s brief, in very much the same way a bird would construct a stable nest according to its environment. Having said that, there are a few common themes appearing throughout the projects we work on. In particular, Nest strives for a home, workplace, bar, cafe, restaurant, or even a simple greenhouse, that gives the feeling of being both connected to the outside world and also cocooned from it.

Prior to establishing the design studio, Emilio completed an Arts Degree with Honours in Philosophy, his thesis focusing on the very current issue of Environmental Ethics, or simply put, what beliefs and aspirations should guide our decisions relating to how we treat the natural world. After undertaking part of his degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, he took the knowledge he gained from his Philosophy degree into the Architecture Faculty at the University of Melbourne.

After graduating he worked on a number of private projects whilst employed at Peck Von Hartel, Shane Williams Architects, Sinatra Murphy Landscape Studio, Perkins Architects and de Campo Architects. It was here that he learned the delicate art of dealing with clients, consultants and builders.
