Profile:

Amadis has a background in music, horticulture & renewable energy and since 1997 has been actively involved in the area of community gardens, sustainable education and urban agriculture. During this time she has worked with organizations such as Garden of Eden, Cultivating Community and CERES (The Centre for Education and research in Environmental Strategies.) Her work has involved the design and project management of a number of community and kitchen gardens, eco-village community garden design, presentation of sustainable gardening workshops, permaculture courses and conferences on urban food security, peak oil and community gardening. She writes about sustainable gardening for publications and a regular quarterly article on sustainable gardening for Green magazine: sustainable architecture and landscape design.

Amadis joined Village Well in 2003, and was instrumental in designing and managing the Green Streets sustainable mainstreet program in Smith Street, evaluated the pilot program and was the GM for the full program in Rose Street, Essendon. She has a broad knowledge of sustainability, incorporating horticulture and permaculture philosophies, sustainable products and behaviour change. A passionate advocate of relocalisation, the ecocity and Place Making she enjoys working across sectors with creative, collaborative processes that inspire great places for people and the earth.
